How to stick to resolutions

Think of resolutions as a catalyst for change or a starting point for improvements. Although January is the primary month for making resolutions to start off the New Year, it doesn’t matter when you make resolutions—sticking to them can be challenging. Keeping resolutions simple, clear and achievable will help ensure success.

Here are a few tips to help make your business building resolutions stick:

  1. Write them down! Writing it down connects your brain to an action, making it more concrete.
  2. Find a resolution buddy. This person will help make you accountable. If your resolution buddy has the same goals, it’s even better, because you will be working towards the same outcome.
  3. Read daily. Read the newspaper, a magazine or a book. Most importantly, read all communications from LPGN, such as the weekly LPGN Connection eNewsletter, NewsFlashes and other emails. Reading is an act that keeps you connected to your company and the world around you.
  4. Get healthy. You are a walking billboard for your company. If this means you need to stop smoking, drinking or overeating, focus on one thing at a time. Don’t try to quit bad habits all at the same time, because it will be overwhelming.
  5. Be realistic. Make your resolutions achievable. For example, if you want to lose 20 pounds, don’t resolve to lose it all in two weeks. The same applies to business building. If you recruited one person a month last year, aim for two or three this year, rather than 10. You can adjust your goals accordingly.

As a network marketer, there are some basic resolutions that are favorable for building your LPGN business year round. If you make a list and look at it every day, you have a good chance of making the resolutions stick. Here are a few of the basics:

  1. Become a messenger of prosperity.
  2. Revise your personal/business goals. Why are you an LPGN IBO?
  3. Make the phone your best friend. Practice sounding confident. Speak less to more people and get over the fear of talking to people.
  4. Manage and balance your time.
  5. Plan your day, every day. Plan your week. Plan your month.
  6. Track your progress. Write down your successes. Try to find solutions to anything problematic.
  7. Spend time alone. Clear your thoughts. Know yourself and what you want.
  8. Show appreciation to your team.
  9. Emphasize the positive. Always see the glass as half full, not half empty.
  10. Take the long view and think about your business over the long term. Be patient and persevere.

Pinpoint your most realistic resolutions. Review the different areas in your life and think what is working as well as what isn’t. Then pick resolutions in an area that needs improvement rather than a radical change. Think in terms of what you know you can make happen. And all along the way, be sure to reward yourself for the improvements you make!
