Body, mind and spirit benefit from meditation

Unless you already practice meditation regularly, you may not be aware that it’s not only the mind that benefits but also the body and the spirit. Eastern in origin, basic meditation essentially is used as a way to quiet the mind, which in turn produces the state of “mindfulness.” When translated into any aspect of daily living, mindfulness produces awareness, which in turn creates heightened performance in any chosen activity.

Benefits to the Body
On a physiological level, meditation has proven to slow down the heart rate as well as the respiratory rate, increase blood flow and decrease muscle tension. These attributes make meditation exceptionally beneficial for people with high blood pressure or high risk for cardiovascular disease. Other benefits to the body include enhancement of the immune system and lung function, heightening energy levels and relaxing the nervous system.

Benefits to the mind
Meditation has also been shown to provide psychological benefits. By increasing levels of serotonin, people who meditate on a regular basis, appear calmer and happier. They tend to be less easily influenced by phobias or fears. Meditation helps practitioners focus clearly and retain facts through improved memory.

Emotional stability, increased intuition and will power, ability to solve problems and reduced stress are other benefits attributed to long-term meditation. Look at the stereotype of the meditative monk—tolerant, patient, not aggressive, composed, balanced and requiring little sleep—these characteristics also apply to the layperson meditator!

Benefits to the spirit
Not to be confused with religion, meditation benefits the spirit in a variety of ways. Endorsers of meditation say they experience a state of serenity, compassion and acceptance of not only themselves but also of others. They are more able to live in the present, instead of resenting the past or worrying about the future. If there is one key feature that practitioners of meditation are unanimous about is their ability to worry less about the unknown. Another spiritual benefit that practitioners speak about is the ability to forgive, again, not only themselves but also others. Ego diminishes and caring for others grows.

An Interesting Parallel
When you read all the potential attributes you can reap through regular meditation, do you see a parallel with the benefits of LifePharm products? Think about what Laminine and OMEGA+++ can do decrease cortisol levels, increase serotonin and regulate blood pressure. When your stomach acts up from overindulgence or stress, think about what DIGESTIVE+++ can do? And when you take IMMUNE+++ daily, imagine what your defense system is doing to counteract the free radicals floating everywhere.

Since Laminine, OMEGA+++, DIGESTIVE+++ and IMMUNE+++ provide similar benefits to meditation, wouldn’t it be an interesting experiment to see how you would feel physically, mentally and spiritually if you were to combine them? Wouldn’t that be a positive way to help create a better “self” in 2016?
