Network marketing as a second career

The majority of people go to a traditional "9 to 5" daily job and try to meet the quota required, make it through the day without too many errors and do the same thing all over again the next day. The reality is that these same people work in order to pay their bills and may be stuck in the daily grind, even if they are never recognized for the work they do. Instead, the executives or their direct managers are the ones who claim the credit, earn the big salaries and receive recognition. It's part of the harsh reality of working in a traditionally-run company or corporation. It’s also one of the main reasons people turn to network marketing as a second career.

Another valid reason for turning to network marketing is just a matter of being practical and wise. The main positive incentive of companies is no longer guaranteed—corporations used to reciprocate employee loyalty and dedication. In today’s work environment, people come and go; layoffs are commonplace during economic downtimes and old timers are often viewed as liabilities rather than indispensable resources. It pays to have a good backup plan, and network marketing fills the bill quite well—especially if you understand how to treat it as a real job or career rather than a hobby.

Here are a few basic tenets of network marketing that may help anyone who wants to develop a thriving second career in this industry:

  1. Network marketing focuses on people more than sales. In the words of LifePharm sales leader Susan Barlin, “mission before commission.” This describes the focus of network marketing in a nutshell: the primary mission is to focus on helping people. Sales automatically fall into place once the focus is on building relationships and helping people improve their lives. According to network marketing expert Michael Dlouhy, "People join people. They don't join a company." Michael is of the view that at least 85 percent of the population hates being sold to. “Hard selling” will then only leave you with 15 percent of people to work with.

  2. Trust is of the utmost importance. When people trust you or admire you, they are more likely to want to join you in your endeavor. The more people you spend time with and help in some way, the more they will be attracted to you and the way you have been building a relationship with them. Your goal is to develop and nurture loyalty, and your own dedication and loyalty to the people you connect with is what will earn reciprocity.

  3. Network marketing success relies on high standards of excellence. Since you are your own boss in network marketing, you need to establish your own standards of excellence. There is no one giving you a performance review or assessing you for a raise but yourself. When you look at network marketing as a true source of income, plan for the long-term. This means working to reach the highest standards of service that you can provide, not only short-term financial goals. To pursue personal excellence, you have to work every day with integrity and the sincere wish to help others. Work from your heart and pay it forward. Your consistent effort will grow your business. When you listen to LifePharm sales leaders, the majority will attest to this pattern of growth.
  1. Your mindset may determine success or failure in network marketing. Develop your mind so that your attitudes and actions will reflect success. Then, teach your downlines how they can do the same. Network marketing is about duplication and true duplication begins with how you think, not just what you do. It might sound trite, but it has been proven over and over again: when you believe you can succeed, you have won half the battle.

  2. Personal endorsements are more convincing than telling about someone else's success. Use your own experience in recommending your product. Use your earnings and income to show that it is possible to make money in the effort. Network marketing is about convincing people that this venture is worth their time, and few things work as well as personal recommendations.

When you first start to build your LifePharm business, you might not be someone who has a remarkable product or opportunity endorsement to share. There is an entire endorsement library in your Virtual Office Resource Library to share with others, until you have your own stories to relate.

Most importantly, as you continue to consume LifePharm products daily, have faith that you will eventually feel the difference they make in your health and lifestyle. Write down how you have transformed, and send them in to Endorsements@LifePharmGlobal.com so that others may benefit from your experiences.

What starts out as a second career with LifePharm may well turn into your primary or sole source of income. Many IBOs are able to quit their previous jobs and devote themselves full-time to LifePharm, enjoying the lifestyle of an entrepreneur. Regardless of your decision to remain as a consumer or to embrace the business side, isn’t it comforting to have a choice?
