Tips for upline and downline teamwork

In network marketing, a good working relationship between upline and downline is crucial for business building success. It is the upline’s responsibility as the sponsor of the new team member to help the downline get started, build momentum and duplicate business building efforts. This is easy enough to say, but how does the upline execute this with each new team member?

There are three basic actions that the upline should perform with each new downline:

  1. Have a system in place for the downline to follow. What you need to do is create a map of a system that will work. That system needs to have three things.
    • First, it needs to be effective, tried and proven to work.
    • Second, the system needs to be cost effective. The plan you use needs to be something you can afford right now, and which will produce results sooner rather than later.
    • Third, your plan must be replicable, a process that is easy for your downline to mimic.

Your LifePharm system should include fast start training, which covers the basics of monthly qualification through personal product consumption, the benefits of Auto-Delivery and how to sponsor new people with one of the AD Advantage packs. It also includes becoming familiar with the LifePharm corporate website as well as learning how to use the variety of beneficial business management tools in the Virtual Office.

  2. Role model, role model, role model. Anything the upline wants the downline to do should be visibly done by the sponsor. This includes consuming all LifePharm Products personally, consistently telling as many people as possible about the benefits of the products and of being an IBO, develop ongoing endorsements, devoting time to team members by training, answering questions, providing moral support and living a healthy lifestyle. If you want your downline to share product consistently and make cold calls, you must do it first.
  1. Attend and create meetings. For upline to be viewed as a leader, taking initiative is important. Leaders do not only follow their own uplines, they also need to lead their downline team. Since meetings are one of the key ways to introduce more people into the organization, start out by attending the meetings and events that others have put together.

As you grow your own business, start planning, scheduling and creating your own meetings for your team members to attend, and always ask them to bring prospects—friends, family and acquaintances who may bring their own connections. Most successful leaders start out with small meetings in their own homes and over time, their meetings grow into events in actual venues.

Most of the team bonding that happens naturally in network marketing is developed during business meetings, training seminars/webinars and company or IBO-sponsored events. Social interaction with team members, crosslines and corporate staff develops solidarity and loyalty. A major outcome of attending meetings is the natural development of trust and cooperation between team members and other LifePharm IBO lines. Successful ideas can be shared for the mutual benefit of fellow IBOs—strength in numbers, both in depth and width, is the core of downline and upline stability.

Upline and downline who cooperate consistently are protecting their mutual business interests. A team that works well will stick together for the long run. Remember that your LifePharm Business is not only for you, but is also potentially for your next generations.
