Did you know?

September is National Breakfast Month

We have all been told "breakfast is the most important meal of the day." During the night when we’re sleeping, our metabolic rate runs slowly and conservatively, but once we’re awake, our bodies need to speed up and break out of their fasting metabolic state. Breakfast provides your body with the energy it needs to start the day.

Furthermore, countless studies have shown that starting your day with a healthy meal is a necessity.

What you choose to eat for breakfast is also is important. For example, if your idea of breakfast is a doughnut and a cup of coffee, or sugary cereal and a glass of fruit juice, you’re setting the stage for metabolic havoc. Try to get at least three of the five food groups into your breakfast meal: fruits, veggies, grains, protein, and dairy.

Breakfast does not have to take a lot of time and soon it will become a daily part of your morning routine. Don’t know what to make? Check out these breakfast ideas from The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics: Breakfast Ideas for Busy Mornings, Make Time For Breakfast, and Power Up with Breakfast.
