Make Every Personality Type Work for You in Network Marketing

You already know achieving success as a LifePharm IBO depends heavily on how you communicate with people. However, there are some people you will come across who hear the words “MLM” or “networking marketing” and automatically go on the defense, reluctant to hear anything you have to say. There’s still a stigma attached to the business, and as with any stigma, you’ll need to learn how to overcome it by using the right combination of what you say, when you say it and how you say it. Otherwise, your efforts might prove to be futile.

There are three basic personality types you will come across: pessimistic, optimistic and realistic.

PESSIMISTIC
People who are pessimistic automatically arrange their thoughts to focus on the negative. Everyone is out to get them and every sales pitch is a scam. If your target audience is pessimistic, you’ll need to develop a well-crafted script that focuses on handling objections. Pessimism is only good when it allows you to see through bad business proposals and shifty sales techniques.

If you yourself are pessimistic, this could be something that is harming your business without you even knowing it. Do you always complain and focus on the negative? Do you look for mistakes people make in your upline and downline instead of praising their strengths and efforts? Being a leader is crucial to success in network marketing. The best leaders help people without putting them down.

OPTIMISTIC
People who are optimistic put their blinders on and refuse to let others dampen their spirits. They choose to give a person or product the benefit of the doubt because they want to believe the best in them. Be aware, it’s very difficult to find optimistic prospects. Optimism usually comes after someone has tried your product and has had a positive outcome as a result.

Optimism can have its negative effects on an independent-based business, even though the person is thinking positive thoughts. If you constantly live in a world where nothing can be wrong with your business, you’ll miss out on new and innovative ways to add benefit to it. For example, signing up for the Auto-Delivery Advantage, customizing your LifePharm Facebook page, or taking advantage of the calendar features in your Virtual Office.

REALISTIC
Realistic people fall right in the middle of these three personalities. In fact, many pessimistic people view themselves as realistic. These types of people generally see things for what they really are, and are able to understand why things happen the way they do. Realistic prospects will know there is a price, but they will also know there is a value to what you are promoting. They trust people to an extent. They know when to back away from a bad deal or prevent spending their money on something that will probably not work. They can usually spot something that’s merely hype, and something that holds merit.

Many times being a realist is the best route to take in network marketing. You can decipher what you like and what you don’t like, and make changes accordingly. The only time being a realist might have its flaws is dealing with personal development. In order to be a good leader, you must have a vision and hope for that vision. When times get rough, you need to be able to have more optimism than realism to get you over that next hurdle. The people you lead need inspiration that comes from looking beyond what’s real and imagining what’s possible, no matter what.

A strategy that every leader should strive for in network marketing should be to acquire a good balance between all three types of personalities. Too much of one or the other can have an unfavorable effect. For things to change, you need to change. Proper marketing education stresses the importance of acquiring and maintaining productive personality traits and how to best apply them to build upon your LifePharm Business.
